Jamila's Story

My passions are art and music.

I really love art. It could be photography, music, fine art, comic books, or even tattoos. I love that art shows the emotions and ideas that the artist wants the public to become aware of, so that the public can learn and share these ideas with others. I’m the type of person that doesn’t feel comfortable expressing myself, so having art and music lets me do that.

I will develop my passion by attending Oxbow because I really want to learn more about different types of art as well as improve my art. I want to learn about the techniques that many of my favorite artists used, while also becoming more creative myself. One of my favorite artists is Keith Haring. His artwork is so weird, colorful, and full of meaning. I absolutely love it, and I would want to do something like that.

I may not be the best artist, but I really want to have a career that uses art. However, I feel pressure to be something "greater". I personally think you can do so much with art; it's not just a simple hobby. I have attended some art classes and will be attending more to improve and show everyone that art has a huge impact in society.

The experience of being Jamila's teacher has shown me not only how talented and accomplished she is, but also how much she would benefit from exploring and pursuing her passions in life. I know that Jamila is passionate about art, and this opportunity is perfect for her. It would not only allow her to find her voice in new and creative ways, but it would also help her develop new skills that would prepare her for a potential college major in art or design, and ultimately a career."

Oxbow Summer Art Camp

I just came back from Oxbow Summer Art Camp, and it was the best experience I have ever had. The people there were great: extremely nice and creative. My instructors and counselors were amazing and super helpful. I got to learn new mediums of art such as sculpture and printmaking. So overall, I had a great time at Oxbow and hope that one day I can come back. Thank you all for supporting me and making this happen.

Art is Almost Coming!

The program I will be attending is Oxbow Summer camp in Napa, and it is an art program. I am very pleased and excited that I got the opportunity to be involved in this program. I heard this program is really nice, interesting, and especially fun. I hope I get new knowledge of art. I also hope I meet new people who can inspire me in my artwork.
