My passion is art.
I didn't know I could draw until I looked at a cartoon and decided to duplicate it. Surprisingly, it looked just like the cartoon I was copying. Little by little, my duplicating and free drawing skills have gotten better. I want to get to a point where I can draw living people.
Oxbow Summer Art Camp will help me find out if art is truly a passion of mine. The program will give me a boost in my drawing skills and expose me to different art forms like photography, sculpting, and fabrication. This will help me get out the box I've shoved myself in. I've always had ideas of things I want to make, but I've never had the materials to do it until now.
"Agueda is a fantastic candidate for the Oxbow program because she will milk the program for all it is worth. I can't wait for the student that Agueda will become following an opportunity with Oxbow. I can't wait to see her improvement in figure drawing, in understanding perspective, and in applying her learning to the dynamic ecosystem of a small school. I sense that she will gain important artistic skills and will find ways to employ this new learning far beyond the traditional artistic realm."
It has been a week since I got back from Oxbow and I miss it already. Not only did I learn new art techniques, I met a wonderful community full of compassionate, creative human beings. I have loads of new friends I plan to keep in touch with for the rest of my life. I am truly grateful for your support. I could have never imagined my experience at camp would be this amazing. Thank you all for your support.

I am attending the Oxbow Summer Art Camp and I'm not sure if you can fathom the gratitude I feel for your help in making this happen for me. Your donation will go a long way in helping me grow as an artist. As I learn new techniques, improve my drawing skills, and gain exposed to new art mediums I will remember that you are the ones that got me here. I can't wait to meet my roommate and other fellow artists. I just know I'm going to have a great time there. It will be a experience I will never forget.
