My passion for photography began when I started going on trips to memorable places with my family, such as New York, Puerto Rico, Miami, and the Bahamas. On these trips I would often take pictures of the scenery around me and activities that we would do. Photography to me is important because I enjoy sharing memories of places that I have visited, while creating a point of view with my art. My love for photography expanded when I was given a camera for my birthday. I enjoyed working with settings and lighting and zooming on the camera; all of this made my photos more professional than the phone camera photos I was taking before. I loved the feeling of carrying a camera around my neck. It makes me feel like a professional photographer, which is what I hope to become one day.
By attending Oxbow, I will get the professional coaching and teaching that has never been available to me. I will be able to apply what I learn in this program to my future goals of college and a career. I will tackle things like angles and lighting, and take my passion more seriously. I hope to also explore career options and gain knowledge from more experienced professionals who will help me shape my future career.
Within her classroom projects, Jacqueline dreams up original and engaging ways to design and develop elements of photography, as well as graphic design, into her work in a way that is natural and spirited. If I were to require one photograph in a multimedia project, I would receive from Jacqueline 3-5, each with its own unique perspective and contribution to the overall piece. She is someone eager to initiate her own projects, and to execute a vision. As such, Jacqueline taught herself how build and customize her own website, reflecting also her natural ingenuity with technology.
Before she owned her own proper camera, Jacqueline produced primarily with her phone, the creative restriction of which Jacqueline handled with grace. As Jacqueline's reading instructor, I have seen photography develop as a natural fit to her aesthetic, and a complement to her developing ability to express herself in writing.
Hi, wonderful human beings. I'm here to update you all on.....well, me. To start I just want to say I am beyond grateful that Wishbone helped me get to Oxbow. Along with family, friends, and great strangers who donated to my campaign, making it possible for me to get to Oxbow. I will use this opportunity and make sure I get everything there is to get from this program. While campaigning for my program I have been running for a position in the student council at my high school. I also enrolled in summer and fall classes at a local college. I have been writing poems and essays for many different scholarships hoping I'll stand out amongst many wonderful students. I recently attended a college tour with 50 other sophomores from my school. I was given the opportunity to visit wonderful colleges like Fresno State, UNLV, LMU, and USC, which was a memorable experience. Finally, I'm excited to be taking over Wishbone's Snapchat over the summer to let everyone else see the experience I'm having and encourage others to try it out also.
I believe in you, Jacqueline!

You're an amazing and talented young lady. You can do it because your just awesome like that.
I love that you set a goal around your passion. And not a lot of people in this world have the capacity to do so. And because you know your own potential, your passion now becomes your identity. That's what living is all about, this is setting you in motion to reach a certain happiness and fulfillment that most people would probably most like set in the back burner in their lives. I want you to be happy and I fully and whole heartedly support you to reach your happiness.
Make it happen capt'n!
I love the arts and any student who is passionate about them. Good luck!
Try your best in something you enjoy. Make a living doing something you love, and it won't be considered work!
