My passion is acting. Ever since I was a kid, I was always interested in acting. Whenever I watched a movie/show, I would pretend to become the character from the movie/show for a day. However, the day I performed in a play at my middle school was the day I discovered my passion for acting. After countless hours of rehearsals, reading the script and understanding my character I was able to bring the character from the script to life. The feeling of satisfaction I received from acting and being able to inspire emotion in the audience was like nothing I ever experienced! The idea of portraying a character, being part of their words and thoughts, made me love theater and made it unique and special!
Attending NSLC Theater will help me pursue my passion for acting because it will give me skills and experience which I couldn't receive. Going to a magnet school in New Haven which focused on business and medical made it difficult to pursue my passion for acting. There are no drama, acting or art classes in my school which make it hard for me to gain experience and improve my acting skills. Attending NSLC Theater program will provide me a foundation of knowledge on theater performance and production from professionals, which can not only help me develop my acting skills but also make connections and gain experience!
Shiv wants to learn more about his acting craft, and he will be an engaged student and he will fully apply himself to the challenge. He is a very talented young man and the acting training will help open a new world for him. He is resourceful and unafraid to try because he has always had to find solutions on his own when a problem arises. This opportunity for Shiv to attend NSLC Theater would allow him to further develop his acting abilities.
Summer is coming really quick! Which means I'm getting closer attending NSLC Theater at Fordham. I am really looking forward to meeting theater professionals and learn from the professionals in the world of theater, behind the scenes tours and hands on simulations and meeting/making connections with students, theater professionals and directors! Once again, getting the opportunity to attend such a valuable summer program wouldn't be possible without donors, thank you!
