Tyraese's Story

My passion is soccer.

I discovered this passion when I was in the 5th grade. I was at recess and one of my old teachers, Mr. Hirsch, saw me playing with the soccer ball. He told me he thought I was pretty good and asked if I wanted to play on the team. After my first game, I realized that I loved playing soccer. After taking a break for an injury, I returned and scored the game winning goal. It was in that moment that I knew I loved the game of soccer and that I would want to do it as a career someday.

Attending Red Bull New York Residential Soccer Camp will help explore my passion because I will become better at the game and I will have a lot of peers to build off of and they can build off of me. I believe that soccer is something that I can do for a very long time and going to this camp will help me develop as a soccer player.

A Note from Mr. Hirsch, Tyraese's Mentor

"Tyraese has not had the opportunity to attend a high level soccer camp institution outside of our school. He would be an excellent candidate to attend the NYRB Residential camp primarily because of the level of dedication and commitment he would bring to the opportunity. This would be an experience that I think would propel his future academic and athletic ambitions and something he would take extremely seriously.

Purely in athletic terms, he would greatly benefit from working with properly trained coaches who could provide him with more individualized instruction and push him to develop as a technical player on the field. I also think having the opportunity to spend a week away from his Brooklyn neighborhood in the summer would be invaluable to him."
