My passion is dance. I have a passion for dancing because it's a way for me to express my emotions and feelings. I started dancing when I was two. My grandma used to help me practice but, unfortunately, she died when I was seven. When I dance, I think about her and how my hard work is going to make her proud. Dancing is another way for me to express who I am and my culture and to be proud of where I come from. I also teach my little sister to dance because she wants to be a dancer like me. Dancing is another way to be a role model to her: to inspire her to try new things in life and to have confidence in herself and in her body.
Tiaya puts school and home responsibilities first, and her amazing grades are a result of her diligence. Unfortunately, though, it doesn't leave much time for her to pursue her passion, which is dance--especially given that our school day is longer. Being able to partake in programming at the Broadway Dance Center will finally give Tiaya the time and space to not only focus on her passion, but also develop as a performer.
Thank you to all my donors who have helped me make one of my goals in life become true. I look forward into dancing at Broadway Dance Center and meeting a lot of new people and new friends. Thank you again and this really puts a smile on my face everyday.
