My passion is engineering.
I enjoy hands on learning, and often go out of my way to visit museums that offer these kind of exhibits. One of my favorite exhibits really dived into engineering. These hands on projects included building a bridge out of a specific amount of marshmallows, jelly beans, toothpicks and one string. The bridge had to ultimately support a composition notebook, so there was a lot of trial and error. I discovered how engineering is a combination of logical thinking and creativity.
Attending Blueprint Summer at Lehigh will help me pursue my passion for engineering by providing a college experience and college level classes. I hope to be challenged with engaging assignments, projects and advanced classes that would otherwise not be available for me. I hope to gain confidence and courage about my future, and better prepared for the obstacles that may get in the way of obtaining a degree in engineering.
Stephanie is a leader whose presence enlightens classrooms and energizes classmates. She is a model student whose learning abilities are undeniably impressive. Stephanie's intelligence coupled with her humble demeanor gives her the competitive edge necessary to be a good candidate for Blueprint Summer at Lehigh. In class, she has shown a great love and passion for the field of science, being that she has constantly receives top scores on all h exams. Stephanie often takes the time to help classmates who are struggling with the content. I believe this program will provide Stephanie with opportunities that may not always be available for females that attend a low-income high school.
The Blueprint Summer program at Lehigh University was one of the best experiences I was fortunate enough to experience. The staff was amazing and my Engineering Professor was well driven and prepared. I am trully thankful for the friends I made and the skills I earned. I was also able to learn about Lehigh itself and I'm planning on applying there soon. Thank you to wishbone for introducing me to this program and my fundraisers for believing in me.
I am fortunately going to be attending Blueprints Lehigh University Pre-college summer program this summer. I am truly excited to be attending this program because it will give me the opportunity to experience a real college class while living like a college student. Attending a low income high school has motivated me to pursue my interests throughout the school year and summer programs.
I am looking forward to be taking an engineering course in which I will be able to work with other teens and be able to share and receive advice and ideas from one another. I believe engineering involves the use of logical reasoning and creativity to produce a final outcome. I chose this program because I am interested in attending Lehigh University and hope this program will help me decide on whether or not I want to major in an engineering related course when I grow up.
