My passion is psychology.
I've always wanted to learn about humans' emotions and brains. I personally know people who have anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses, and it's interesting how these illnesses affect their everyday life. I want to understand why these emotions occur, how do they come about, and how these emotions effect our brain.
Attending Centenary Summer Scholars will help me pursue this passion because it will give me the experience that I've always wanted. My school had an AP Psychology class, and I actually got in but the class was dropped due to lack of funding. I was disappointed, but hearing about Centenary Summer Scholars is giving me hope to learn more about my passion.
Ailey is an above-average student, clearly motivated to do well academically. Her work shows real effort and her behavior in the classroom makes it clear that she is alert, aware, engaged, and attentive. I have been especially impressed with her sensitivity to others insofar as she has a developed sense of others and how they may be different from herself both in their needs and character. She is a young woman with a steady disposition, a spirited mind, and an active learner. I can only imagine that she would work well in varied settings and would be a welcome and contributing member in any communal effort.
