My passion is marine science.
I discovered my passion for marine science when I was helping people and animals heal from wounds. It wasn't one instance that I found my passion, but a lifestyle. I live in a rural area. My family and I own many animals. On more that one occasion, an animal would get hurt. I would have to treat it and keep it healthy. Sometimes, my brother or myself would get hurt. I would have to take care of them. I knew that marine science was one of my interests, but when I started taking the biomedical course at the Science and Technology Magnet High school in New London, my passion was fully discovered. I always seem to be looking forward to learning about the human body.
Sara Beth is an amazing individual. She is a dedicated, thoughtful, and creative thinker. She has the mind of a scientist and the heart of an activist. She will no doubt make an excellent candidate for Brown Project Oceanology Ocean Camp. This program will help her develop these qualities even further by giving her opportunities to immerse herself in academic rigor and curiosity, interact with other students with similar passions and commitment, have access to quality resources and mentors.
Project Oceanology was so fun! I met new people and learned about the Long Island Sound. In camp, I created a boat out of card board and tape. It lasted about 5 seconds before sinking. I learned about coli-form levels, nitrates, and many other properties of the Thames River.
I had so much fun and I want to thank everybody who helped me attend this summer camp. Thank You!
