Angelica's Story

My passion is art.

I discovered my passion for art when I was a small child. In kindergarten, I had always liked to draw and color, however my passion grew when my parents placed me in an arts infused school. In the school I attended, there were different mediums of art and I was exposed to new ways to create art with collage, drawing, painting, etc. I have this passion because it allows me to be expressive and creative through images rather than with words. At times my thoughts and ideas feel too complex for words. I love art because it can be interpreted through many ways, everyone is unique and so is their art. Art is something that I want to do for the rest of my life no matter what career I pursue.

I have sat and discussed with Angelica on numerous occasions how her passion for art takes over her personal life as a teenager and enables her to completely focus on her art. Art is something that takes her to another place where she can interpret on her own terms. Angelica is passionate enough in art that as an outsider looking into her world; she makes me want to be in her "artsy" world.

Parsons Pre-Attendance Update

I am going to participate in the Parsons Pre-College Academy, more specifically I will participate in the printmaking course. I am looking forward to this program because printmaking is not something I am familiar with, I hope to learn a new art form and expand my overall knowledge. My school is not able to provide programs like this so I am grateful for this opportunity. I am also looking forward to working and collaborating with new people my age. This program can also help me decide whether or not art is something that I want to pursue in college.
