My passion is music.
I discovered my passion for music when I was 3 years old. I would sing the theme songs of the shows I loved to watch like "Scooby Doo" and "Power Rangers." When I grew a little older I started wanting to learn how to play the melodies from this show called " Stevens Universe." I'm at a point in my life where I want to create my own music, but I know I have to learn and master the basic skills first.
The reason why I want to attend Calhoun Summer Jazz is because I think it'll further my musical abilities. This is a chance to learn from others who share the same passion as me. This opportunity will allow me to expand my artistry as a pianist/musician in a new atmosphere.
Beyond just his passion for music, Antavion possesses many characteristics that make him an outstanding candidate for Calhoun Summer Jazz. He is highly creative, constantly thinking outside the box and approaching problems in unexpected ways. In this respect I think he would excel in a jazz context - the improvisational and creative aspect of jazz fits well with Antavion's personality and natural approach to learning new skills.
There are times at school when Antavion seems to be crying out for an opportunity to learn alongside students who share his musical passion, and I believe that attending Calhoun Summer Jazz would give him exactly that opportunity.
