Jamiere's Story

My passion is crime investigation.

Crime investigation has been a great passion of mine for quite some time. It all started with a show called First 48. I started watching it when I was nine years old, and although the crimes being committed scared me, my curiosity was much greater than my fear. My passion grew, and I began reading books on crime solving and espionage. I ran around the house, pretending that I was a spy and playing with puzzles that my Grandma bought me. Solving puzzles came easy to me, and it felt rewarding to complete them. This helped grow my passion for crime investigation; like a puzzle, there are many pieces of a crime scene that needs to be examined, analyzed, and put together in order to solve the crime.

My passion will develop by attending Blueprint Summer at Lehigh University because I will have a real life opportunity to learn more about crime investigation. The opportunity to go from a spectator to an investigator would be priceless. I would love the opportunity to investigate high profile cases while gaining knowledge and the proper tools to solve crimes. Additionally, the ability to work with professionals using modern technology would have a great impact on my criminology intelligence.

A Note from Ms. Caruso, Jamiere's Teacher

"Watching Jamiere transition to high school has been beyond impressive. While many 9th graders struggle to fit in with peers and adjust to more challenging coursework and stricter discipline, Jamiere has flourished. Since the middle of the first trimester, Jamiere has consistently maintained a spot on the "Wall of Fame" bulletin board, which means that he is maintaining over an 85 GPA. He recently received an academic award for being the "Most Improved" student in his grade. Finally, Jamiere was recently named a candidate for Student Government 9th Grade Representative. Jamiere displays a strong desire to improve everyday.

I believe that Jamiere will benefit greatly from participating in the Blueprint Summer at Lehigh University. Jamiere has grown up in the South Bronx and has not had many opportunities available to him in higher education. I believe that this experience will pave the way for Jamiere's higher education. Once Jamiere gets a taste of what it's like to be a part of an academic community on a college campus, he will not stop until he makes that his future."

My life-changing summer at Lehigh University

The summer program I attended at Lehigh University was one of the best experiences ever! I learned so much academically and behavior-wise. I learned how to organize and take notes when someone is giving a lecture. Behavior-wise, I learned how to be more responsible with time. We had a curfew to be inside our dorms and all of my peers followed that. This camp really matured me and gave me a better vision of how I would like my future to turn out! I really appreciate all the Counselors ( RA's) in taking the time to really help push me into being college ready! Thank you to all the donors that gave me the opportunity to attend the summer program at Lehigh.

Excited for Blueprint Summer at Lehigh University

I chose this summer program because I knew I would have a great experience there. In the pictures that were posted from previous summers ago, kids look like they really enjoyed themselves, so I cant wait to enjoy myself. Also, I am really into criminology, and Blueprint summer program offers a forensic science course, which is the career path I would like to take in the future. I also believe that this summer program will further my knowledge and not too many people have an opportunity like this, and I am very grateful that I am having a chance to go to this life changing summer program. What I'm also looking forward to is having a feel of what college life is like. So, I thank Wishbone for accepting me into their community and the Blueprint summer program for allowing me to join their program, thank you so very much!
