My passion is Law and Leadership.
I discovered my passion of Law and Leadership in two different ways. My passion for law stemmed from the show Law and Order. I know the show is from a script written by Dick Wolf but the roles given were significant to me. In the show there was a strong minded, passionate lawyer named Alex and out of all the characters, she constantly proved that women are able to do the same things men can. She consistently won cases and she knew what was morally right. Being a female lawyer in this society would lessen the idea that men are better than women. My passion for leadership stems from my interest in public speaking and also my interest in leaders and liberators from history.
Attending UConn this summer will help me explore my passion because before being able to achieve my future career, I will need to attend approximately eight years of college. This six week college experience is not equal to eight years but it will introduce me to what those eight years will feel like. This UConn program also combines the things that are needed to be a successful lawyer like writing , leadership, and public speaking. If I am doing all these things now, by the time I complete my full eight years of college I will be able to have the logistics of a law career down pack.
The biggest obstacle that I have faced, has been trying to stay positive in very negative situations. Sometimes in my life I walk through underprivileged environments where its hard for you to pass through with a smile on your face. In these moments I try my best to speak to those people and show them that I don't feel like I'm better than them, I remain positive and try my hardest to be brave in those unfamiliar situations. I've been learning that sometimes in life you may be going through some difficult things but in order to get through those moments you have to be as positive and as okay as you most possibly can.
Kieara is extremely passionate about leadership. Kieara is the president of the girl's leadership club at our school called Leading Ladies. She takes such a leadership role in recruiting members, making an agenda for the meeting and leading other girls in projects with the club. She is also an officer in another club at school and still maintains excellent grades. She hasn't had many opportunities to cultivate her leadership skills but other students naturally look to her as a role model.
Kieara, I know you're going to have another amazing summer experience! Can't wait to hear all about it!
