I discovered my passion for engineering and design during the summer of 2017. That summer, I was volunteering at a boathouse workshop where I was building a row boat with other peers and instructors. I really enjoyed going through the process of designing this rowboat and working with others to bring this boat to life. On the first day, we all sat down together and discussed what we were going to build. We all contributed ideas to the design of the rowboat and thoughts about the features of this boat. It was really interesting to learn the design process through the construction of this boat.
By attending the Center for Architecture Summer Program, I will be exposed to new ideas and individuals that are as passionate about engineering as I am. This program will expose me to lots of new ways of thinking about and using engineering in design, helping me pinpoint what field I'm most interested in studying further. At the moment, I'm really passionate about civil and environmental engineering since they best fit my personality and strengths, but I am open to exploring all kinds of possibilities.
Mike has been a resourceful student from the very beginning. He routinely asks teachers for extra help when needed. There was a certain time when he did not have access to the Internet at home, and showed initiative and perseverance by staying at school after the school day ended, and used the schools computers to complete his work. Mike is a passionate, yet quiet and grounded student who would be a great asset to any program he applies.
Mike has recently discovered his passion for engineering and architecture. As a student at Energy Tech High School, Mike studies both fields and has over time grown to appreciate how things work. He has, many times, voiced his desire to have a career in engineering and architecture and the Center for Architecture Summer Programs will help him on his way to greatness.
I had a blast , I learn so much about digital designing and how to implement green life innovation to our building, that we were working to implement into the building we were creating through the whole week. We went to several field trips to places that had this green life innovation and had an idea of how it helps the environment and society in the long term.The staff were very welcoming as well as my peers. Thus thank you so much, for making this possible as I believe I really took a foward in better understand my dream career which is to be civil engineer. Thank you once again
