Paola's Story

My passion is learning new things.

What initially started as me trying to learn everything I could in order to be at the same level as my older siblings turned into a passion where I simply wanted to learn. Going into my first KIPP school in fifth grade, my passion developed even further. My teachers frequently complimented my work and asked me to tutor students. They saw talent in me that I never thought I had.

I hope to develop my passion by going out of my comfort zone at Medicine Youth Summer Program. Looking into majors and careers, I have definitely found an interest in a career in medicine because it is something that will always be in high demand. However, I don't know much about medicine and the many things that I can do with it. I want to attend Medicine Youth Summer Program to do one simple thing: learn more about medicine in order to develop my growing passion for the field.

Thank You for the Opportunity to Pursue My Passion

This summer, I will be attending the University of Toronto's Youth Summer Program for Medicine. I have been looking forward to attending the program ever since I applied to Wishbone, and I almost yelled with joy when I found out that I had been accepted. For years, I have been interested in science, specifically how the body works, and the concept of medicine has always caught my attention. When I read the description about the program, I knew that it would offer the perfect opportunity to learn more about medicine and the body while also getting to work with people that have the same passion as me.

I can’t wait to meet people from all around the world at this program and learn why they are interested in medicine. I’m also looking forward to finally getting a chance to pursue my passion by simply learning more about it. I would not have had the amazing opportunity to attend the program without the help of everyone that has helped me, from my teacher starting my campaign, to my family and teachers supporting me, to my donors helping me pay for the program when I couldn’t do it by myself. I will not let you guys down, and I will work my hardest at this program and in whatever follows to pursue my passion.
