My passion is engineering.
I discovered my passion for engineering after several people asked me about what kind of career I wanted to pursue. All I could answer is "I'm not sure, but I want to contribute towards making life easier, cleaner, and better for us all." I would like to create new designs for outdated machines.
Greg is a hands-on learner, and without an engineering class, there are limited opportunities for him to design solutions to real-world problems. Engineering is just now being integrated into science classes, but that process is slow (NGSS is being implemented over the next few years). However, Greg went out of his way to build an extraordinary bottle rocket for his physics class earlier this year.
The UConn Explore Engineering Program will give Greg the opportunity to learn more about the various engineering fields. Greg is determined to make the world a better place for people, and he needs to see how engineering fits with that goal by experiencing real world engineering. Greg's creativity and drive are exceptional, and this program will help him channel his skills into a more focused career goal.
I have been very excited for my stay on the UCONN campus this summer and I have been preparing myself for this learning experience. I have been talking to friends who currently go to UCONN as well as talking to my teachers about what I will be learning at this camp. Now the only thing left me to do is simply pack my bags for a great week.
