A Note from Mr. Gavin, Henry's Teacher

Henry is one of our most academically well prepared students, which speaks to his overall level of conscientiousness. Moreover, Henry is, to an unusual extent, able to articulate why he chooses the mission of being a college-bound student. Henry would benefit immensely from the Nike Basketball program because he has not yet been furnished with many opportunities to explore out-of-school extracurricular activities. As our school is in it's founding year, there are relatively few opportunities for him here currently to broaden his horizons beyond classes and our basic sports teams.

In my time as a teacher and school leader at Uncommon Leadership Charter High School, I have worked with a few dozen students who have participated in Wishbone (some of whom are now successful college students!) and I have found that the occasion to participate in a Wishbone program has always supercharged their commitment to applying to college. I believe that Henry is in a position to benefit similarly.
