Amari's Story

My passion is basketball.

I discovered my love for the game of basketball during my 9th grade year. I decided to try out for the basketball team for the first time in my life. Since then, I realized I have a passion for this sport and it is something I want to really work hard at. Trying out for my first actual basketball team made me nervous and fearful of not making it. I noticed something about myself while trying out, it is that anything I put my mind and time into, I can successfully accomplish. This was true for me in trying out for the basketball team at my high school. I was able to play my first season and be apart of the starting line-up. From then on I knew I had the ability to improve my talent and that I could be a great player.

A Note from Mr. Lowe, Amari's Teacher

Amari is one of the most absorbent students I have ever met. Whether we are in the health classroom discussing nutrition and the benefits of activity, or in the PE classroom exercising, he is on point and on target. He is an active learner and always looking to lead in any instance. He is always looking to better himself in any way, especially physically. I can guess there will be some training and intense levels of fitness at this camp, and I know Amari will be up for the test. His kinesthetic skills are above and beyond, and he will make a great candidate for this venture he so desires.

Thank you so much for helping to support my goal of attending the Nike Basketball Summer Camp. I am excited to grow as an athlete and meet new people this summer. I hope to develop discipline and look forward to seeing the rewards of this in my daily life.
