A Note from Ms. Nelson, Eliza's Teacher

I've seen Eliza be proactive in pursuing programs that can be utilized outside of the school. Our school offers many opportunities for class choices that would prepare students for the next steps in college. We lack the opportunities of extracurricular activities for students that are ready to explore programs that will help them choose careers or hobbies that interest them. I am proud that Eliza has found programs, such as Sur La Table Teen Cooking Program, during the summer that will help in focusing her interests. She is learning her personality, her likes and dislikes, and that she does not have to conform. She is able to work with requirements and assert herself to find the things she enjoys. When Eliza finds something she likes, she puts all of her energy in trying to reach the goal. She is very willing to work for the things she wants, and is on the right path to apply to the college she wants to attend in the near future.
