A Note from Mr. Frick, Angie's Teacher

Angie is genuinely interested in learning more about psychology, and the Discover Hopkins program will enable her to focus exclusively on this subject for the first time in her academic career. Furthermore, Angie is one of the top students in her cohort, and definitely the caliber of student who would benefit to being exposed to a school like Johns Hopkins and from interacting with other high-achieving high school students. Angie is interested in medicine in general, but psychology in particular; we do not have a psychology class at our school, but Angie takes AP Physics to challenge herself. Furthermore, Angie applied to and was selected for a research internship at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University, which she will be completing on Fridays next spring. Nobody is telling Angie that she needs to do these things--she does them because she wants to be challenged, and wants to take advantage of everything that is available to her.
