Joann's Story

My passion is forensics.

I will develop my passion for forensics by attending the Summer Institutes at Saint Joseph's College because I will actively and academically be involved in my work and put my best foot forward. Additionally, the program will help me strive towards a better future for myself.

I want to be apart of this community because it would help me gain experience into a field that I really want to thrive in. I know that not many students get to have this great opportunity, and if I am accepted, I will work to the best of my ability and give it my all.

A Note from Miss. Ewing, Joann's

"Joann is a focused and delightful student. She's grown tremendously throughout her freshman year. She is quiet and well-mannered in class, and cares a great deal about getting good grades. She is mature and respectful, stays out of high school drama, and has positive relationships with her teachers and friends. As soon as I announced that Wishbone was available for 9th graders, she reached out to me via email and has been on top of the process ever since. St. Joseph's is a great opportunity for Joann as a 9th grader -- it's close to home, but also a great professional and academic experience on a college campus."

St. Josephs college

My program took place at the Summer Institutes at St. Josephs College. At this program, I signed up for two subjects: forensics and veterinary science. In both classes we did lots of activities. For example ,in my forensics we made fake blood, did a crime scene, and watched lots of forensic files. Also in veterinary science we took a trip to the aquarium, dissected a pig and a pigeon, and examined a dog and a parrot. I learned the different types of of dogs and how to examine the type of blood they have. Overall, I had a good time at the program and I learned many new things. I enjoyed the fact that the program exposed us to many things. I am glad I attended Summer Institute @ St. Joseph. I hope this program is expanded even greater in the future. Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of that.
