Abraham's Story

My passion is Art and Fashion.

At the age of 5, I knew I wanted to develop gorgeous clothing and artwork; I wanted to be just like the designers and stylists I saw as a child. Growing up in a small apartment with five other people was very difficult but I found comfort in watching TV with my aunt. We would watch Project Runway and What Not To Wear. While watching these shows I saw how much beauty a human can make with their own hands. Their ability to make wearable art inspired me to leave a stamp on the world that redefines beauty and gender roles.

The Parsons Summer Intensive Studies: New York will give me the opportunity to develop my skills and teach me techniques that will give me a foundation to compete with other artists. The course offers students the chance to develop their portfolio and surrounds them with others students with similar passion. This community of passionate humans will allow me to experience other cultures and ideas; these new ideas will push my artwork to be the best it can be. I will be an important member in The Parsons Summer Intensive Studies program because I want to participate and learn from the people around me.

A Note from Mr. Routhier, Abraham's Teacher

"Abraham is a fantastic candidate for Parsons Summer Intensive Studies in New York, for a variety of reasons. He is extremely passionate about the arts and combines that passion with the responsibility and drive that will push him through challenges and push him toward his creative boundaries. When I asked him about his interest in Parsons, he said that one of the things that inspires him about it is that it is hard. He wants to become an expert on the history of fashion, and to be able to infuse his own personality and passions into what he learns. He is one of a kind and will contribute beautifully to the community at Parsons."
