Janet's Story

My passion is learning new things.

Having the opportunity to learn new things at FIT Precollege Workshop will help me not only expand my perspective on the world but also inspire me to use these experiences as a source of growth. Through experiences like this one, I have been able to become more open-minded about the world and motivated to learn more about others.

A Note from Ms. Farrow, Janet's Teacher

Janet is a natural storyteller and from the start has been deeply invested in documenting social justice issues in the South Bronx. In her spare time - between being an honor roll student at school and working part-time - she has managed to document Bronx residents' reactions to the recent election and the changing demographics of her neighborhood. This is a small sampling of the documentary work that Janet has been able to create in the South Bronx, and I cannot wait to see the stories she tells when she explores new topics at FIT Precollege Workshop.

Thank you for your support!

This summer I was able to experience FIT's precollege program because of you guys! I had a great time expanding my knowledge on Photojournalism which has been a strong passion of mine for a few years now. I was able to document people of the Highline and learn about great photographers such as Mary Ellen Mark and Steve McCurry. Once again, thank you for the experience, I had lots of fun.
