Sara's Story

My passion is volleyball.

I discovered my passion for volleyball recently. Volleyball is something that really interests me, and it is something that I want to pursue throughout my high school years. It will be a great experience, and a great opportunity to work on a college campus and get to work with a college staff. I believe that Cal will help me get a head start of becoming a professional volleyball player and play in college.

A Note from Ms. Dilworth, Sara's Counselor

Sara and her family have expressed that they want her to have just as many opportunities to engage in summer programs and internships as any other kid. While she has not had the opportunity to take part in summer programs the past, I believe that the US Sports Nike Volleyball Camps could be the way she is able to learn more about the volleyball, get access to an incredible program, meet new students in the Bay Area that she would not otherwise meet, and get a sense of what it means to be a college student.

Post-Update

This has been such an amazing experience. I met a lot of new people and got to learn so many different things. There were times where I felt like I was not cut out for volleyball but I put my best efforts. I feel like I really improved and I also got to get out of my shell a little which was amazing.

Update

I am going to be attending US Sports Nike Volleyball Camps this summer. I am so excited to start playing again. Volleyball is the only way I know how to get my emotions out, it helps me release the stress that I have. It's an amazing feeling knowing that I am going to attend a volleyball camp. I could've never imagined myself being able to attend a camp and it is a real dream come true.

I am excited to get to know other people who have a similar dream as me. I cannot wait to work with them, and our coach. I'm hoping that I get to learn new skills and forms of playing volleyball. It's definitely going to be a good and new experience that I can't wait for it to happen.
