My passion is musical theatre. My view on musical theatre was changed forever during my freshman year at Platt. I have been singing my whole life, but my hometown didn't have many opportunities. When we moved to Meriden, more doors began to open for me. I didn’t yet know what I wanted to do with my future. Then auditions for our spring show came and I thought I’d try it. I landed the role of Fairy Godmother in our production of ‘Cinderella’ and my life was never the same. We didn’t have an auditorium at the time so we rehearsed in our choir room and scrambled to readjust things in the two weeks we had before performance time. Opening time came and when I stepped on that stage everything stopped. All my worries melted away and once the curtain closed I knew I would never live a life without performing.
NSLC Theater will help me improve upon technical obstacles in this line of passion such as acting, dancing, singing, further developing leadership skills, and performance in general. Being in the city for this experience will also benefit me because I plan on going to college in New York City.
Angel is a hard working and dedicated student. I have never seen a students that is more passionate about their dreams than Angel. I know for a fact that if given the opportunity Angel would excel at the NSLC Theater and she would bring back the things she learned and share them with all of the students that share her passion.
Angel is a talented in the arts and is extremely passionate about shows and preforming. While she is involved with the drama department at school she could really grow and learn from better programs. She is not able to pursue things extra curricular activities outside of what the school provides however. I know that Angel would benefit greatly from this experience at NSLC Theater.
My New York experience was nothing sort of perfect. Throughout 9 days of NSLC I learned skills to becoming a better leader, what type of leader I am, how to audition, how a professional Broadway theatre works, and many more life skills i will never forget. Thank you for donating and helping me have this wonderful time in pursuing my passion!
As the days go by and my program gets closer and closer, I am filled with excitement to finally be able to learn more about my passion. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported me in pursuing my dream. I have been going to NSLC's website and reading more about how the program works and how they support kids like me through their work. I am filled with joy to be able to have this opportunity!
