I am incredibly grateful to all of the donors that have contributed to my fund, giving me the ability to attend this wonderful program. Being in Discover Hopkins, I took a class called "Psychological Profiling" with Dr. Raifman as my professor. I learned about neuroscience and psychology, and the role it plays in profiling serial killers and criminals in order to assist in capturing them. This class has taught me how knowing behavior, emotions, and how the brain works can truly affect one's experience in life. Being in this class was challenging, and I feel as though I am more prepared for college as I had to learn how to manage my time well in order to complete assignments and study for exams. It also taught me how to collaborate with all types of people and gave me insight into how there are so many wonderful people out there. I will always be grateful.

I will be participating in Discover Hopkins, a summer program in which I take college level classes and live in the day of a Johns Hopkins student. The reason I am looking forward to this program is because I feel as though this will be such a unique and insightful experience for me. My current school focuses on liberal arts, so there is not much attention placed onto the sciences based on my curriculum. I feel as though this summer program will help me get the exposure I need to classes I normally wouldn't be able to take. In addition, my absolute dream is to become a doctor (specifically one focusing on women's health) so I hope this program provides a stepping stone for me to be able to pursue my life goal. I am so glad to have been funded and I am looking forward to interacting with people who are intrigued with science as well. I feel as though my passion will reach its peak this summer and I can't wait to finally be able to express myself in such an environment.
