My passion is acting.
In the eighth grade, my drama teacher pushed me to audition for the role of Wendy in Peter Pan. Any fear I felt disappeared the instant I stepped on the stage. Ever since then I find myself constantly running to the stage as my safe haven and the place I went to learn. Every moment I spend acting is a moment that I have the chance to gain a new perspective because I have the opportunity to become someone else in a different place and time. The second I open my eyes, I am free. Free to explore new ideas, inspire my audience, and connect with others that I might not have had the opportunity to connect with. Theatre continues to be the only place where I am able to learn about humanity without being interrupted by my personal responsibilities.
Coral is a premiere choice for the US Performing Arts Acting for the Camera program because she has a strong passion to be a life-long learner. She has taken various college courses during her high school career (including summer courses at Yale), participated in numerous independent study classes (courses which weren't offered by her high school), and participated in a wide range of extracurricular activities and events. With each new learning experience, she uses that as leverage to build upon it and seek out further learning experiences. There is no question in my mind that Coral will use this as a valuable learning experience that will impact both her and those around her.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend this summer program. I learned so much about acting. This was the first time I was exposed to film and it allowed me to grow my interest in this field.
It has always been my dream to attend a summer camp that specializes in theatre. My high school does not offer a lot of resources to partake in my interest. I am grateful for wishbone and the donors for allowing me to partake in my dream!
