Qing's Story

My passion is fashion design.

I am passionate about fashion design. When I was younger, I watched a fashion show and I was amazed at how a designer could transform the look of a model. I love how the designer can be inspired, sketch an idea, and make it become a reality. I always imagine that my drawings will come to life, and I wonder if they will look the way that I imagine. I'm so excited to see how my first piece of clothing would turn out.

Attending Centenary Summer Scholars: Fashion Design will help me gain more understanding of the world of fashion. It will be a great opportunity for me to explore how fashion can be created from sketches and how clothing is made by hand and/or machine. This camp will help me improve my drawing skills and give me a taste of the process of bringing sketches to life.

Felt Like A Dream.

The camp at Centenary Summer Scholars Fashion was amazing. I really enjoy every second of being there. Each day we had about six hours of class. Day one, I designed three magazine proposal sketches named SkyLand base on my vision board. Day two, I cut a shirt for the first time in my life. In the beginning I had no idea where to start but little by little something turned out and of course I added white lace because that just how I am. Day three, as a class we went to FIT Fashion Institute of Technology museum. The last two days it was the final project on recycled clothing. Every night there were night activities until 10:30pm. This week went by so quick that I felt like it was only just a dream.
