My passion is leadership development.
I discovered my passion for leadership through my mother. One day she took me to the Ronald McDonald House for the children in the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles to cook meals for the families that were being housed there. In my mind, at the time I was thinking "Why am I doing this?...... People do this for fun?..... What do I get from this?" As I was preparing the meals this small girl that I knew who had a facial tumor came up to me and gave me a drawing of me cooking her food, and on the top of the drawing she wrote "True Leader." This action burned deep into my heart and ever since I saw the value of serving others and the value of being a leader in the small actions that can greatly impact others. I really try every day to become a greater leader.
Thomas is a good candidate for National Teen Leadership because when I think of a leader, Thomas is one of the firsts to come to mind. Thomas is a young adult who is constantly looking to get involved in the next project in order to achieve a goal. He likes to take a stand and commit to something in order to get a positive outcome. He would greatly benefit from participating in this amazing program because he would be surrounded by like-minded individuals who share the same passions as he does, and would be further inspired to come back to Valor Academy High School to continue to contribute to the school culture and pride that he has started to develop.
Thomas, I believe you will do great things!! The sky is the limit and you are our future! Keep that bright smile shining out to the world and best of luck to you.
