My passion is medicine. I discovered my passion for medicine when my younger sister dislocated her arm, and I reacted with immediate interest in her shoulder. I am very interested in the anatomy of the human body. The Adelphi Winthrop Summer Science Institute will help me pursue my passion for medicine because I will be able to grow in my knowledge of areas that I am not familiar with. I love learning new material, and this will help me learn more about how to cure certain illnesses and how to treat certain disabilities.
Kimberly has shown the academic dedication and desire to participate in the Adelphi Winthrop Summer Science Institute because she has identified this as an interest very early in her academic career. She has some insight that the average student just doesn't have at her age. I'm working with Kimberly to own her academic gifts and move towards leadership opportunities. She leads by example, but I'd love to see her take opportunities that will build confidence and give her experiences that can show her why leadership opportunities can help her in more than just school settings.
My experience at Adelphi was extremely insightful and fun. I met lots of new people, and I was able to learn CPR along with ways to treat certain injuries inflicted by the heat or by the cold. I met many new people from all over New York, and they were all very friendly and had good energy. The professors were all very knowledgeable in their lectures, and I felt as if my advisors were very easy to talk to.

I would like to update you on my journey to attend Adelphi Winthrop Summer Science Program. Last month, I received a letter from Adelphi officially accepting me into the program. The very next day I became fully funded by many generous donors (some of which are family, friends, teachers, or complete strangers). Thank you again for your generousity. I feel so blessed for this opportunity!
I am so excited for classes that will help me further my interests in becoming a nuerosurgeon or cardiologist. These classes can help me immensely to prepare for what is ahead in a medical career. In the meantime, I love to take the time to research medical terms and diseases to gain insight and knowledge about the medical world. I hope to learn more about medicine overall and just have a good experience at Adelphi. Again, I really appreciate all support and contributions from everyone!
