Jiayi's Story

My passion is designing.

I first discovered my passion when I saw someone my age with the ability to draw prettily. I admired her designs and started drawing myself. I started off copying her designs, but I felt like that wasn't good enough for me. I started going online to look at all sorts of different drawings. When I came across the Japanese cartoon drawing style, I fell into a trance. I started to begin drawing Japanese-styled cartoons. I have practiced many drawing styles and I am trying to find own style. I am passionate about designing because I know there is always someone out there who is better than me, and knowing that inspires me to further extend my skills and strive for my best.

The Glass Flameworking Immersion workshop is related to my passion because I get inspiration from trying new things. I have tried many forms of design. These include things on paper, paintings, t-shirts, and home decorations. For a change, I wanted to try glass designs. I believe that the first step would be learning more about Glass Flameworking. I feel like by doing this workshop program, I would learn more about a different type of design and find a new inspiration.
