Giselle's Story

My passion is engineering.

I first became interested about engineering during middle school where I attended the Girl Scout Badges STEM program. I have always enjoyed math and science classes but by attending the Girl Scout STEM program, I became fascinated by how engineering was the application of both subjects onto the real world. I was also inspired by the empowering female engineers I encountered. I continued to explore my passion throughout my high school years by becoming involved in my school’s Robotics team and science committee group. Slowly, I have been able to continue to explore my passion for engineering and I hope to amplify and expand my knowledge.

Giselle's passion and eager to learn more about engineering makes her a strong candidate. She is the type of student who will put goals and ideas into an action plan. She has great leadership and a great role model within our student body. Having Giselle be a part of the Cal Poly EPIC Engineering Camp will help her decide if she would like to major in engineering or a STEM major in college. It would also help her build new skills and a great experience.

Cal Poly EPIC Engineering Camp

I am going to be participating in the Cal Poly EPIC Engineering Camp this summer. I am really excited to be joining this program because I am going to meet teens from all around the country that have the same interest as me. I am looking forward to working with these young individuals and bouncing ideas off one another. The reason I chose this specific program was because I've been passionated about engineering since the 7th grade. Engineering allows me to use both science and math knowledge to create and construct something that will change and facilitate the lives of many. This program will allow me to get a taste of what a day for an engineer looks like.
