My passion is writing. Throughout my high school career and much of my life as well, I have constantly struggled with indecisiveness and feelings of insecurity when it came to the discussion of future careers. My journey with this, though tainted with a constant search for myself and my strengths, was resolved, when I discovered my innate passion for writing. Because it was one of my strengths and I had overlooked it very easily, the middle of my sophomore year was definitely a period of self discovery for me. This was also affirmed when I took the initiative to join the school newspaper. Taking the courage to write and publish stories, read and criticize the world happening around me, and having the power to shape the perspective of my audience through the strokes of my pen was an especially liberating experience for me. My voice, therefore, was transformed through the power of journalism.
Attending Brown University's Summer@Brown will allow me to gain the knowledge and agency that can enhance my engagement with my potential career, and overall, be a phenomenal experience during the summer.
Zainab is a great candidate for the Sumer@Brown program because of her work-ethic, leadership, and reflectiveness. Zainab is one of the most impressive students I have ever had with regards to work-ethic. She would always have her homework turned in early and would always check-in with me when she was absent so she wouldn't miss a step in class. This hard work paired with her adaptability is what makes Zainab special. Zainab was a student that got along with everyone in the school. Not only did she get along with them, she was able to push them to learn and also made herself vulnerable enough to learn from her peers. She is always looking to help others, yet at the same time learn from them. Zainab would be a perfect candidate for the Summer@Brown program.
I have successfully raised all the money for my campaign now thanks to all your assistance, encouragement, and generous donations. This milestone definitely could not have been reached without all of your help, and I want to thank you all and wish you success in all your endeavors. I am excited to be attending Brown University's Summer@Brown Pre-college summer program, and I am sure it will benefit me in building on my skills and strong qualities as I move up in my high school, college, and soon enough, fruitful career years, by the grace of God. Thank you for all you have done for me in helping me make this summer a summer to remember.
