Richard's Story

My passion is basketball.

When I first started middle school, I did not play any sports. My school gave me a list of activities that I could do, and the one that stood out to me was basketball. I went to the first practice and really enjoyed it. As I started to get better and better, my coach told me that my hard work was paying off. Now, basketball has become a way for me to de-stress, stay fit, and have fun while doing it.

I would like to attend Nike Basketball Camp in order to learn the ins-and-outs of the game, both on the court and from a management perspective. Attending this program will develop my passion by allowing me to meet people who have the same love for basketball as I do.

"Richard benefits from discussion and hands-on learning. Twice a year, school-wide, our students hold seminars on a variety of topics. I have facilitated a seminar with Richard and about 10-12 other students, and I have seen Richard build off the statements of others and make insightful comments of his own. He is also interested in synthesizing new ideas to transform his world view.

I believe our students like Richard will be able to bring a unique perspective to Nike Basketball Camp. Richard has proven that he is very capable of engaging in rigorous athletic and intellectual pursuits, and I cannot wait for him to show what he is capable of."

Thank you so much for allowing me to go to Nike Basketball Camp this summer.

The program that attended was Nike Basketball camp. It took place in Baruch College in New York City and it was so much fun. It was a 4 day camp and we got to learn new drills and plays and make us better players. It was such a good experience for me because I got to make a lot of friends and learn about different cultures. People from all over the world were at the camp and it was an awesome experience and something that I want to do again and learn even more than I did that week.

Excited for Nike Basketball Camp!

I feel extremely excited to attend the Nike Basketball Camp this summer. The reason I say this is because I am sure that it will change the way I play and I will also be able to make new friends. I thank you again for allowing me to have this opportunity.
