Khephra's Story

My passion is soccer.

I discovered my passion for soccer in the fifth grade. It was a sport that I had always wanted to experience so I went to the try-outs that were taking place at my school. I was devastated when I found out that I did not make the team. Ever since then I waited for my chance to play again without being turned down. My sophomore year of high school is when I had the chance to try-out for soccer again. I was really nervous because I didn't want to be turned down like I was before but I went for it more optimistic this time. Luckily, I made the team. Even though I had very little experience, I was thrilled to be apart of a team that would not turn me down, but help my skills thrive. I became more passionate because I want to prove my capabilities.

A Note from Ms. Pacheco, Khephra's Mentor

Khephra is wise with her time, and at a young age has learned to take advantage of her resources and opportunities that come her way. Her responsibility and maturity help her in balancing his academic, work, and home life with a positive attitude. In her daily work, Khephra has a strong commitment to not only her own abilities, but to her peers. As a first time soccer player last year, she showed this on the field with her team. Her humility to learn from others pushes her to grow personally, and to help others grow alongside with her. As many of her teammates have graduated last year, Khephra has taken very seriously the responsibility she has of carrying the team forward, and improving her skills to do so. US Sports Nike Soccer Camp would greatly benefit her to not only learn the soccer skills she needs, but to further develop her team building abilities that will help our team have a successful season next year. Khephra takes pride in being a part of the Lighthouse Community, and always seeks ways to improve herself to then give back to our community. Nike Soccer Camp would be an excellent opportunity for her to do so.

My Experience at The US Nike Soccer Camp!

First off, thank you to everyone so much that took the time to donate to fund the expenses for my US Nike Soccer Camp. I learned a lot about myself and my skills to become a good captain for my team this year. Being at the soccer camp inspired me to try and work harder to develop my technicality with intricate footwork and ball handling skills. I also got to see a lot of University of California, Santa Cruz which is an amazingly beautiful campus! Thank you all again so much.

My Summer Program Update

Hello! I would just like to say thank you so much for all of your donations. I really, really appreciate it. I will be attending the US Sports Nike Soccer Camp. I am really excited and eager to be participating in this camp. All of the seniors on my team will be graduating this year so this means that I have to step up and increase my soccer skills as the end of my junior year is approaching. I want to be better for my team and I think that this program will be extremely helpful for me.

I am looking forward to challenging myself physically and mentally throughout the three days I will be there. I want to make the best out of my experience by learning as much as I can. Sometimes I even consider playing soccer in college so I think that this will be very beneficial to me. Once again, thank you so much for all your help!
