My passion is Basketball.
I discovered my passion when I was in either the 7th or 8th grade. I have always had a interest in sports. Once I got older, I like to say my main focus sport was basketball. I have always liked basketball since I was young, but I never really got a chance to show a lot of people what I could play since I wasn't the best player when I was younger so people didn't really give me a chance. But since, I gotten to high school I have improved on basketball and matured as well.
The Nike Basketball Camp, would help me explore my passion in numerous ways. One way could be I would see what I need to improve on in my basketball skills. Another way it could help is I would be able to leave my everyday environment and play basketball with other kids other then the Bronx. And it would also help me improve so I could possibly make the basketball team for my school for my senior year of high school. Those are the ways I see the Nike Basketball Camp helping me explore my passion.
Out of all the recommendations that I have to write, this recommendation is the most personal. I met Leonel 2.5 years ago when I was teaching summer school classes for Eagle Academy For Young Men in the Bronx. He immediately stood out amongst the class of young men. As I got to know the young men that I would be officially teaching in the fall of that school year I asked them about their dreams. When I go to Leonel in the most honest voice he said, "I don't know what I want to be, I just want to stay away from trouble."
Over the years I got to know Leonel and would constantly encourage him to find something he loved. During a college trip, it hit him. He heard the term Sports Management and it sounded interesting. From there he started to research the career and a passion was discovered.
