Penda's Story

My passion is photography.

One of my teachers was a photographer and took pictures everywhere she went. They were so beautiful. I remember trying to take a picture, but it wasn't nearly as beautiful or easy as I thought. She let me use her camera for two weeks so I could perfect the pictures I took. I loved doing it, and I knew it was something I wanted to continue doing. I became passionate about capturing everyday things and making them beautiful.

Attending School of Visual Arts Summer Pre-College will allow me to be in a new environment where there is so much to capture. I'll be taught by professional instructors and have the chance to develop and edit my photos to enhance my work. I hope that by the end of the program, I can determine whether it's something I want to do for the rest of my life.
