My passion is Volleyball.
Volleyball has been a family sport for as long as I can remember. It was played at family reunions, Easter parties at the park, or simply whenever my cousins were bored. I can recall seeing my aunts and uncles playing while laughing and saying how one side was going to smash on the other. Freshman year, I was able to form part of the very first Cristo Rey volleyball team. It was great having two coaches that really inspired and taught me a lot. They encouraged me and gave me prep talks before games or tournaments. That's when I found a sport that not only I enjoyed but (as a bonus) was not so terrible at.
Attending the Nike Volleyball Camp would be a fun experience. I may not be the best but I am sure that there I will be able to learn some new techniques and skills that can help in my future when playing volleyball. I have never played club in my life but I know that I want to become a better player. By attending the camp, I will be able to learn from other girls and coaches.
"As Jacquelin shared, one of her many passions is volleyball. Despite not knowing anyone at school, and never having played on a formal team, Jacquelin took the risk to be a part of the first ever CRSJ Volleyball team. We do not have a school gym, official home courts, or even proper nets. But Jacquelin, along with her teammates showed us all that the game is more about teamwork, perseverance and enjoyment.
Jacquelin embodies what we want every CRSJ student to be, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with her!"
During my time in Santa Cruz at the Nike Volleyball Camp I had the time of my life! I was able to meet people from all around that share the same passion as I do, volleyball. I was placed under the same team with my new friends and roommate! Practice and scrimmages were so much fun. We would play volleyball early in the morning and on late evenings. The coaches were so nice and fun it honestly didn't feel like a tough workout. I was able to learn so many new techniques and get tips from all the coaches. This was definitely one of the highlights of my 2016 Summer!
I am extremely excited to attend the Nike Volleyball Camp! As I receive more and more emails with updates regarding the camp, I can't help but become more eager to hit the courts and make new friends. I just can't wait until the day arrives! I already want to pack my bags. Thank you so much for the support!
