Stacey's Story

My passion is video games.

Ever since I was young, I've loved video games. I've longed to learn how people made these awesome characters. I've loved to see what kinds of missions the creator makes for these characters. It has always interested me to learn how to make the best selling games from brands like Sony and Nintendo.

Attending iD Tech Camp will help me reach my passion by teaching me the skills I need to create, model, and design a video game. It will teach me the basics through the guidance of an expert. This will fulfill my long term passion and help me on my way to a successful future doing something I love. I might even become a part of one of those big name brands like Sony and Nintendo, or maybe even start my own brand.

A Note from Ms. Razzo, Stacey's Teacher

"Stacey displays passion, persistence, and motivation every day. Prior to enrolling at Uncommon Schools, Stacey attended one of the worst elementary schools in New York City. There, she dreamed of a school where teachers held high expectations for their students and the students strove to meet those expectations. At Brownsville Collegiate, she got what she was looking for, but she had a lot of catching up to do. Stacey entered high school on par with her more affluent peers and had her heart set on college. Stacey knows that the ticket to college includes strong grades, extracurriculars, high SAT scores, and more, and she wants nothing more than to be the first person in her family to graduate from a top college.

Stacey is a good candidate for iD Tech Camp because she is exactly the type of student that would be successful in the program - she is driven, passionate, and willing to do all the work necessary to propel her forward."

Thank You, Really Enjoyed iD-Tech Camp

At iD-Tech camp, I learned how to use Unreal Engine 4 to create game maps. Unreal Engine 4 is a widely used program by many gamers and game creators. I made many friends and had many experiences. I learned many techniques within 1 week, and participated in many Team Fortress 2 tournaments with friends. I was the only girl in my group, but I was treated as an equal to the rest of peers. My teacher was funny and always kept us in a good mood with random college stories, he even told my group about the legend of the Nae Nae Ghost. I had a wonderful time at iD-Tech camp and now I'm about to begin Junior year as vice president of anime club.
