My passion is medicine.
I grew up with a lot of medical influence. Growing up, my cousin would always take care of any animals that she found on the streets of Mexico, giving them food and water that she could spare. Her intense love and care for these animals rubbed off on me, and I knew that I wanted to be just like her. I wanted to be a veterinarian. Fast forward about 4 years, and I find out that I'm allergic to cats and long-haired animals. I decided that even though I couldn't be a vet, I still wanted to be in the field of medicine and be able to directly care for other living beings so I decided to try and pursue a career as a pediatrician.
Maryanne is a great candidate because she is not only a tremendous student, she is a wonderful person. She is focused, persistent and kind. I have no doubt that she will benefit from participating in the Youth Leadership Conference on Asian and Pacific Islander Health program. She will grow by being surrounded by other students with a similar passion. Maryanne works extremely well with others and this will allow her to meet new people. In addition, Maryanne can continue to step outside her comfort zone. She will be a welcome addition to your program.
I can't believe how amazing this summer program went! The program went amazingly and I met a lot of new people and even regularly keep in contact with one of my companions that I met at the summer program. Going to Stanford for a week really allowed me to experience what Stanford life is sort-of like. It was stellar! Being able to see my dream college like that, up-and-close, allowed me to get a glimpse of what it was like and whether or not I really fit into that school. The program itself was also fantastic! I learned a lot more than I ever could have on my own, and I met a lot of speakers who helped me along the way. Thank you for granting me this opportunity, it was something I won't be able to ever forget.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to me and my education. I will have the chance to further my education, going farther than my family, and this will allow me to be the first one to go to college. Being the first one to go to college means I have to pave my own path without the help of my parents. After going to this program, I plan to use what I have learned there in order to use it as motivation to learn more. Also, I want to meet with people there in order to find people who have the same ideals as me, or the same situation. I hope this experience will help me with my goal to get into college. Having people such as you, who donated to me, will help me as I find my way to get to college. I am not giving up easily despite the things holding me back, because my dreams are what she going to allow me to have a better future, and be able to help my family rise.
Once again, I wanted to say thank you to those who donated in order for me to go to this wonderful program that'll give me the opportunity to get closer to accomplishing my dream. It was incredibly kind and generous of you to donate to someone you don't even know, in order to help them get further in life. Thank you.
