My passion is technology.
I discovered my passion for technology and engineering when I was younger; I enjoy building things and taking them apart. I always loved how technology works and how it contributes to our lives, and I would like to further explore how I can use different technology to my advantage. I have always had a creative ability and a fascination with how things work. When I got my first computer I started to discover that I enjoyed seeing how the parts such as keyboard and screen where it all connected. I would love to participate in this program to get exposed to something I really enjoy but do not usually have access to. The challenge of solving practical problems that involve the field of engineering are exciting to me. I am particularly interested in computer science.
The Cal Poly Engineering Camp program will allow me to explore my passion more in depth and ultimately decide if this is really what I want to pursue. I want to have the opportunity to figure out my true passion before I apply for college to study computer science. By attending this summer camp, I will find myself surrounded by other people who enjoy science and engineering as much as I do and it will motivate me to reach my goal.
Adriana is a gifted, diligent, and caring student. She has long held an interest in technology and computer science. While she has not been able to take computer science or engineering courses at our school, she has pursued these interests in her own time outside of the classroom. Adriana has sought and engaged in online coding tutorials and taught herself video editing using the resources available to her at home. She is eager to increase her access to computer science and engineering instruction through the Cal Poly EPIC Engineering Camp. I have no doubt that Adriana's self-drive to explore this content area will make her an ideal participant in the engineering camp.
This summer has been one of the most exciting and nerve wracking experiences of my life. I had the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and do something I would have never done without your support. It was a very mind opening experience.
I got to explore what it really meant to be an engineer and I fell in love with the campus at San Luis Obispo. But, most importantly I got to see more of the world of engineering and all the different majors within. Throughout this experience I learned that I don't really enjoy computer science as much as mechanical engineering and building something with my own hands that others can use to better their lives. This experience has helped me get a better idea of what I want for myself and it has helped me figure out my future and the path I want to take.
You're an amazing student! Have a fun summer.
