Deanna's Story

My passion is acting.

Acting became my passion because I felt that I possessed the ability to step out my comfort zone and take on personalities that were different from my own. After learning this, I also took an interest in entertaining others without the fear of going in front of a crowd or audience.

I will develop my passion by attending ACTeen Summer Academy because I will once again step outside of my comfort zone and display my versatility and openness to meeting new people and trying new things. Actors and actresses experience new people and locations very frequently, as I wish to do myself in order to expand my boundaries.

"Deanna is naturally capable at many aspects of academic and social life, she never hesitates to help others or realize that others may need help.

Deanna will not let the mission of Wishbone stop at the end of the summer. She will live it and exemplify it every day of her life. I know she will spread the message and encourage other students to keep trying to be a part of it. She is fully aware of the challenges facing young, African American students, and especially African American women. Deanna strives to be the person to change the stereotypes and actively rebel against the negative forces in her neighborhood."

ACTeen Summer Academy

ACTeen Summer Academy took place uptown. I was in commercial, voice and speech, film technique and improvisation classes. I learned that I do not want to act for the rest of my life, which was helpful. I met a lot of new friends and aspiring actresses and actors.
