My passion is fundraising for kids with cancer.
This became my passion when my aunt Sonia died from breast cancer on September 26, 2010 after battling the disease for five long years filled with constant pain. I decided to create an organization of people who are passionate about helping people with cancer. We chose to fundraise for children with cancer because they are the ones that have a long life ahead of themselves. These kids deserve to live a life outside the hospital.
By attending Summer@Brown: Pre-College Program, I will be able to get a college experience before graduating from high school. This is also an amazing opportunity for me because I want to be a surgeon when I grow up. I know that may not involve helping people with cancer, but it does mean helping everyone who is in need of medical help.
"Lilibeth has been determined since being a young girl to get a 4.0 GPA in order to pursue college and create a different life path for herself. She will be the first one in her family to go to college and is navigating this path on her own.
Lilibeth is the perfect candidate for the Summer@Brown Pre-College Program because she is determined to succeed in college, and this experience will allow her to get a taste of what lies ahead. Lilibeth specifically wants to do this program in order to take pre-med classes and gain an awareness of the path towards becoming a doctor."
This school year was very difficult for me at the beginning. I decided to apply to 3 AP classes my sophomore year, and I luckily got accepted to all of them. I had not taken any AP classes before my junior year, and I had no idea what I was in for. I wanted to give up, but I didn't allow myself to; I worked super hard and it paid off because I was one of the few top students in AP United States History. I'm so excited to attend Summer@Brown, where I'll get to use these habits and have a great time on a college campus.
