Janet's Story

My passion is coding.

I recently discovered my passion for coding because I once saw a statistic that only 18% of women are in computer science. After I saw this, I was motivated to learn about what coding is and how it works. Until one day I saw an ad for Codeacademy.com and decided to sign up. I found myself actually enjoying it, and I really liked the design aspect of it. It amazed me that I could build and design anything, and it really showed me that coding was important and that it is applied to everyday things. Learning how to code in the beginning was challenging, but once I got the gist of it, I found that it was really rewarding when I found the solution. I want to pursue a career in computer science because of how much I would really like to prove that statistic wrong

Attending iD Tech Camps SF Bay Area will allow me to broaden my knowledge of coding. I will learn more about the career opportunities for technology and engineering and will be able to work in groups and interact with other students that are also passionate about coding. This program will allow me to gain new perspectives and experiences about how being in this field is and how I should be preparing for it.
