My passion is running.
I discovered my passion for running around the seventh grade. I started by running the mile in PE class. Then, when I moved further into Los Angeles, I discovered Students Run LA. I ran my first Los Angeles Marathon in 2015.
When I began my first year at Roosevelt High School, I joined the Cross Country/Track and Field team. I ran on the varsity team with the kids that were the same age and speed as me. I ended up getting a new "PR" each week. By the time I stopped racing, my personal record of the cross country season was 18 minutes and 52 seconds.
Matthew is a great candidate for the US Sports and Nike Cross Country Camp due to his commitment and passion for running. Matthew is proud of his talents in running and spends time cultivating his talents and seeking personal records. Participating in the US Sports and Nike Cross Country Camp will increase his confidence in running and motivate him to pursue more opportunities to refine his talent. Matthew is seeking opportunities to run in college, and this will be a great first step in that direction.
