Alexis's Story

My passion is musical theater.

I discovered my passion for musical theater by singing in front of my mother’s friends in our native language of Khmer. When I sang as a child, I would add emotions and dances into the performance. The music I sang always had a deep and important meaning about love and family. While singing, I am able to express how the music make me feel. This is how I realized that singing and acting were my passion and what I want to pursue.

Although I am afraid to be up on stage or to perform in front of people, I hope that I can overcome this fear soon by participating in a summer opportunity related to musical theater. I see myself enjoying a career in musical theater, not only just doing it for the fame or money, but because it is my and a big part of my life.
