My passion is dancing and leading a group. My passion for dancing has always been there ever since I was a kid. I started dancing when I was six years old and I knew then that dancing is something I love to do. Dancing helps me find peace within myself. Whenever I'm in the studio, it gives me this positive feeling. A feeling of happiness, a feeling of completeness. Cheerleading on the other hand gives me a feeling of perseverance, a feeling of courage and trust. It takes a lot of courage to trust your stunt group to catch you. As a flyer, I persevere myself on flying. Being a part of the strongest stunt group makes me feel humble and secure. Humbled because other stunt groups would look up to us and take our advice. Secured because, I know my stunt group will always be there for me. As a captain of the cheerleading squad, this enables my leadership skills to expand. Helping people get better is also my other passion.
Paula is so talented when it comes to cheer and dance. I really see her as someone who could potentially get a scholarship for college in cheer or dance. I want her to have an opportunity like this during her senior year to help prepare her for college.
My cheer camp experience this summer at UC Santa Cruz was very memorable. When my squad and I first got there, we were surprisingly all very excited and ready to go despite the weather conditions. It was about 80 degrees the first day we got there, however, that did not stop us from being excited to learn new cheers, dances, and stunts. On our second day of camp, we all woke up very sore. We went down to the café to state our day and headed to the field to start working. We focused on team building/bonding. At the end of the night, we received awards. My squad got the BANANA for showing spirit! Also, I got pinned for “Why America needs Cheerleaders” for showing leadership and positive attitude. On our third day of camp, we were evaluated for our extreme routine. After that, we had All American Try-Outs (which I tried out for). After dinner, we had our “Rally”. It was so much fun! We dressed as Football Players, others dressed as toddlers. At the end of the night, they announced who made it in All American Cheer…..and….I…MADE IT! For the dance evaluation, my squad received the blue ribbon!
I am most excited to work with my new squad in camp. I am also excited to learn new stunts during camp. My goals for this camp are to learn as much techniques as possible so that I will be able to teach this to my squad who are not able to go to camp. I am nervous about the other squads, however, I am more excited than nervous. A challenge I might face during camp is probably keeping my squad and even myself together under the heat of the sun. I know I can overcome all the little things in camp. I know it will be a good time.
Thank you so much for your generosity! I really appreciate your kindness and support. Without your help I could not have the chance to explore my passion for cheerleading and dancing at Cheer Camp. Your donation will really help me become more skilled in cheer and have new experiences. You have helped me out tremendously. Thank you.
