My passion is writing. I've never been a passionate reader like my mother. She always had her nose in a book, whether it was a day at the beach or just sitting at home relaxing. But for me, instead of turning to reading, I turned to writing. Writing has always been essential in my life whether it be in school or just free writing. It started off as something as small as me talking about my love for my friends to exploring my life in a memoir I have been composing for my AP Language and Composition class. Writing isn't just a hobby, it's my escape from a hectic life that involves many little children. If anything my younger siblings is what keeps me writing because I know one day my sister who is in first grade will be asking for help writing essays very soon and I will be prepared.
My passion and respect for writing has expanded greatly over the summer. So being involved in a summer program such as YPI Summer Arts Camp where everyone is committed to their work is a great opportunity for me to not only grow as a writer but to also meet up with my fellow novelists. My creative ideas are mainly brought out through creating fiction short stories and that is really the only type of writing that I'm familiar with that isn't forced on me. So through this program, I wish to broaden my perspective and ability to write more fluently and more organized.
Sofia is a bright student who enjoys creativity and has demonstrated the ability of following through what she is passionate about. She is a great student but comes from an underprivileged family who supports her but cannot financially afford programs like this one. Sofia will benefit from this program because she loves writing and using her creativity to do so. She could not do it any other way. She is very talented and a great student with great work ethic and aspires to pursue a career in this field.
I have provided Sofia with many opportunities for her to take advantage of them and fortunately she has done so with fidelity. Sofia takes any opportunities available to her and she uses them to enrich herself and pursue her passion. She is very artistic, intelligent, passionate about school and family. She tries hard and is always willing to advocate for herself when she is in need of something. Sofia is a leader in school and a great student with great work ethic.
