Angel's Story

Since ninth grade, I have set my goal to become a world known architect. However, I know that this dream will be hard to achieve and will take years of dedication and persistence.

My neighborhood consists of mostly Jewish people. These people have captivated me for a long time due to their strong sense of community. The environment is always beautiful even in storms. It's this type of environment and sense of community which I want to pass on to more communities. I will do so by creating neighborhoods in which people have the ability to feel comfortable and see beauty as they leave their houses just as I have in my neighborhood.

My program is different from any other program, because it is in the university that I want to attend after high school. This program allows me to obtain college credit for the architecture course. It also allows me to live on campus and embrace the whole college experience. In addition to the experience, the environment in this program is surrounded by nature.

A Note from , Angel's Teacher

Angel commonly exhibits altruism, persistence, and timeliness, and he truly embodies introspection and positivity. He uses examples and evidence in his written assignments to help illustrate new and complex processes and effectively summarizes concepts in his own words using new and rigorous vocabulary. He also makes constant references to previous topics or real-life situations, and asks questions demonstrating his higher-order thinking skills during lessons or after school. Angel is able to do this because of his dedication to his learning.

For every assignment with which he is tasked, he consistently takes the time to really learn from the task and is never satisfied to simply complete an assignment just to get it done. Angel enjoys learning, and isn’t shy about dedicating focused time to it. Recently, he asked if he could attend office hours in order to learn AP-level concepts because he wants more in-depth knowledge about biology and he thinks “it will be fun.” He brings this kind of positivity and energy to everything he does.

In December, Angel was elected Vice President of our newly formed Student Government, and he has already led the junior class in an action-planning session with the goal of motivating them to become more active in their community. He takes his new role very seriously, dedicating time and energy to collecting and analyzing class data, developing creative ways to present information to his class, and designing focus groups for a range of issues. During his goal-setting session for advisory, one of Angel’s goals was to be more proactive for the junior class and “ask the people what they want.” I am certain his remaining time at UCHS will see him in even more leadership roles, as he is proactive, productive, well-liked and respected by students and staff.

In the six months that I have worked with Angel and from my own experience working with college-ready students, I have no doubt that he will fit right in and excel in the environment of academically rigorous and challenging programs funded by Wishbone.
