Darielis's Story

My passion is performing arts and helping others.

I discovered that I have a passion for performing arts in 5th grade because that year was the first year that I was exposed to theatre (or performing arts) as a class in school. When I began at North Star, I took a performing arts class and realized that I not only have a love for music, but I also have a love for acting. In the summer of 2014, I had the amazing opportunity to attend a performing arts program called Broadway Bootcamp, which I received a scholarship for. Attending Broadway Bootcamp deepened my love for singing, acting and dancing, because I realized that I am talented and that I truly enjoy performing on stage and exploring stepping into the shoes of and truly embodying another character.

Attending Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School will help me to explore my passion of performing arts and helping others because not only are there performing arts classes available at the summer program, but I am also learning from the best. I believe that if one truly wants to succeed in life in whatever they are passionate about, they have to learn from the best. I enjoy performing arts so much, that I already know I have fun performing, however attending Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School will allow me to improve and become better at doing what I love. Once I improve I can bring back the knowledge that I acquired to North Star and also give tips to my peers so that they may improve. Ultimately, Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School is a very prestigious program that I believe will allow me to improve as a performer because I know that I will not only have fun but that I am so invested in it that I will be eager to new challenges and opportunities.

A Note from Mr. Peterson, Darielis's Teacher

Darielis is an ideal candidate for Phillips Exteter Academy Summer School. It is rare that I meet students with such passion and confidence! She wants to perform and I know she will make it as far as her dreams allow. She mirrors our PRIDE system at NSA High School: P - she is professional in every environment whether it be a cast party or the classroom, R - she is reflective of what skills she has acquired and what is still a challenge, I - integrity spills from her with her strong voice and her eye contact, D - she has grit and determination to accomplish her dreams and goals, and E - her joy of the arts (enthusiasm) is her finest trait. This experience will help her to become more of a leader in ITS (International Thespian Society) here at NSA HS. I joyfully send along my highest recommendation for Darielis!

Thank you

I will be participating in Centenary College's Intro to Phsychology program this summer. I am extremely excited to be attending this program because in the future I hope to become a psychiatrist. Exposing myself to the study of Psychology this early on is very exciting for me. I get to learn about this topic I am interested in before attending college, so that I will be sure that I really want to commit to this as a future career. I know this will be an amazing experience!
